হঠাৎ করেই খবর পাওয়া গেল, নিরাপত্তা পরিষদে বাংলাদেশ রোহিঙ্গা প্রত্যাবাসনের পাইলট উদ্যোগে সবার সমর্থন চেয়েছে। ১৯ মে নিউইয়র্কে জাতিসংঘে নিযুক্ত বাংলাদেশের স্থায়ী প্রতিনিধি রাষ্ট্রদূত মোহাম্মদ আবদুল মুহিত রোহিঙ্গা প্রত্যাবাসনের পাইলট প্রকল্প সমর্থন করতে জাতিসংঘ, আসিয়ান এবং আঞ্চলিক দেশগুলোর প্রতি আহ্বান জানান। নিরাপত্তা পরিষদের যে সভায় বাংলাদেশের স্থায়ী প্রতিনিধি এই সমর্থন চান, সেটি আনুষ্ঠানিক ছিল না; বরং আররিয়া ফর্মুলা নামে পরিচিত অনানুষ্ঠানিক আলোচনা ছিল। মিয়ানমারের বিরাজমান সংকটের বিষয়ে যুক্তরাজ্যের আহ্বানে সভাটি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। খবরটিতে অনেকেই একটু চমকিত হয়েছেন, বিস্ময়ে নড়েচড়ে বসেছেন।   লক্ষ্যণীয় বিষয় হলো, রোহিঙ্গা প্রত্যাবাসনের পাইলট প্রকল্প শুরু করার বিষয়ে বিশ্ব সম্প্রদায়ের কাছে মিয়ানমার কোনো আহ্বান জানায় নি; আবার রোহিঙ্গা ইস্যুতে মধ্যস্থতাকারী চীনও নয়। আহ্বানটি চীনের তরফ থেকে আসতে পারতো কি না, সে প্রশ্ন একেবারে অযৌক্তিক নয়। কেননা, চীন নিরাপত্তা পরিষদের অন্যতম স্থায়ী সদস্য এবং মিয়ানমারের বিরুদ্ধে নিন্দা বা তিরস্কারমূলক প্রস্তাব গ্রহণের ক্ষেত্রে দেশটি এ পর্যন্ত কখনোই সমর্থন দেয়নি। সম্প্র

When loan defaulting has become the most preferred option to get rich quicker for habitual defaulters, it seems those defaulters are so blessed that they can now contest the upcoming parliamentary elections by rescheduling their loans or bills just a day prior to collecting nomination papers. লন্ডনে ভারতীয় হাইকমিশন যে ভবনে অবস্থিত , সেই ইন্ডিয়া হাউসের লাগোয়া ঐতিহাসিক স্থাপনা বুশ হাউস ১৫ বছর ছিল আমার কর্মস্থল। আমি বিবিসি ছাড়ার কয়েক মাসের মধ্যেই তারা বুশ হাউসও ছেড়ে যায় এবং তাদের বর্তমান ঠিকানা নিউ ব্রডকাস্টিং হাউস। বুশ হাউসের আরেক পাশে অস্ট্রেলিয়া হাউস , যেখানে অস্ট্রেলীয় হাইকমিশনের অবস্থান। আমি ওই ১৫ বছরে এক দিনের জন্যও ভারতীয় বা অস্ট্রেলীয় হাইকমিশনে ব্রিটিশ পুলিশের কাউকে পাহারা দিতে দেখিনি। এমনকি লন্ডনে যখন একযোগে তিনটি জায়গায় সন্ত্রাসী হামলা হয় , তখনো না। সম্ভবত ২০০২ - ০৩ সালের দিকে ভারতের তৎকালীন উপপ্রধানমন্ত্রী এল কে আদভানি ইন্ডিয়া হাউসে যে সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন করেছেন , সেখানে যেতেও কোনো পুলিশি তৎপরতা বা তল্লাশির মুখে পড়িনি। ব্যতিক্রম শুধু দেখেছি বিরোধপূর্ণ কাশ্মীর ইস্যুতে কয়েকবার প্রতিবাদ - বিক্ষোভের সময়। তখন অল্প কিছু পুলিশ কাছেই প্রস্তুত থাকত আর বিক্ষোভকারী ব্যক্তিদের দূরত্ব ঠিক করে দিয়ে সাময়িক বেষ্টনী বসিয়ে দিত। অন্য সব সময়ে হাইকমিশনের নিজস্ব ন
